TRAUMA AND FRACTURE CARE

Dr. Aditya Sadawarte, as a Trauma Surgeon in Mumbai opens up his views on type of fractures and its treatment. Fracture repair is necessary, if there is a chance for restoration and functioning of the broken bone. During the whole process of fracture healing, it is necessary that bones are firmly kept in correct position. In case the fracture is not healed properly, there is a chance for occurrence of malalignment in the bones that results in physical dysfunction of the bone or in the joints.

Trauma and fractures can occur during auto accidents, threatening fails, or due to various other issues and can be faced by all patients irrespective of their ages which may have a long-drawn impact on their health and can even affect their quality of life.

Treatment of the fracture usually depends upon the severity of the injury. Suppose there is a small break, it may be treated with ice or rest. However, if there is some major injury it might require surgery to adjust the bone and to implant wires, plants, nails, or screws to maintain proper alignment during healing.
